Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking candidates for a Diagnostic Microbiologist I/II within the Department of Pathobiology. The primary responsibility of the position is to process clinical samples submitted to the Bacteriology/Mycology diagnostic service laboratory in the department and report diagnostic findings.

Essential Functions
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
  • Process clinical samples and report diagnostic findings.

  • Oversee the specimen submissions.

  • Oversee laboratory materials and inventory.

  • Assist in research projects related to veterinary microbiology.

  • Provides oversight of student employees.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Level I – Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Microbiology, or related Science and no experience.

Level II - Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Microbiology, or related Science and 2 years experience working with bacterial and fungal organisms.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
