Job Summary
The Alabama Extension IPM and Beginning Farmer Programs, focused on specialty crops, is hiring an undergraduate student seeking valuable long-term research and Extension experience. Freshman or Sophomore students are encouraged to apply for long-term career development/experience with a multifaceted program as part of a large team.
Essential Functions
This student will work as an undergraduate project assistant with tasks that include:

  • Conducting research/insect monitoring during summers at various experiment stations and commercial farms across Alabama, and coordinate mobile app development efforts (‘Farming Basics’ app – https://www.aces.edu/blog/topics/ipm-farming/farming-basics-mobile-app/).
  • The student may also assist in project evaluations from time to time (develop your Excel data skills!).
  • The student will thus develop strong research and communication project skills working directly with the project leader and producers statewide.
  • This summer, the position will be full-time working up to 40 hours a week (20 hours per week at other times).
  • The position will carry over to the fall and spring semesters as part-time and is ideal for students looking for flexible work hours during the day.

Currently enrolled as an Auburn University undergraduate student.
