Job Summary
The Student Airport Line Service Technician (flight school fueling crew) performs aircraft refueling, operation of fuel trucks, and management of fuel inventory and quality.

Serves as part of the Flight School Fueling Crew, responsible for refueling Auburn University’s School of Aviation aircraft fleet and helping to manage the airport’s Avgas inventory.

Students may be eligible to work up to 40 hours by following the special request process through student employment and receiving approval from all required.


Essential Functions
  • Fuels aircraft using both Aviation Gasoline and Jet-A fuel. Responsible for ensuring aircraftare fueled according to specific orders and timetables.
  • Assists in towing aircraft as required, ensuring safe movement on the airportgrounds.
  • Learns the trade of aircraft refueling, to include how to operate fuel trucks andassociated components, measure fuel quantities in storage, check fuel quality,assist in receiving fuel shipments, coordinating fuel orders with flight schooldispatch, and interacting with pilots and passengers.
  • Operates and becomes familiar with ground support equipment, such as the aircraft tug,ground power unit (GPU), lavatory service cart, de-icing cart, forklift, golf cart, UTV, andairport shuttles.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures are followed, utilizing detailed checklists tomaintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Trains, coaches, and mentors new hires.
  • Ensures safety standards, guidelines, and best practices set forth by the National AirTransportation Association (NATA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), AlabamaDepartment of Transportation (ALDOT) and Auburn University are followed to the highestlevels.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as an Auburn University Student.
  • Taking classes during the semester you are seeking employment orNot enrolled in classes for the semester of employment, but was enrolled in the previous semester and will be enrolled and have a class schedule for the following semester (this includes the summer semester).
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and to work on select weekends, all football game Saturdays, select special events, and select afterhours callouts.
  • Airport Line Service Technicians that serve on the Flight School Fueling Crew must be able to work 6.5-hour shifts, three days a week (including Saturdays), as assigned.

Expectations:
  • Must be able communicate effectively in person, over the phone, over a radio system, and in written correspondence.
  • Student workers would need to keep these shift requirements in mind when setting up class schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Pay Rate $11.00-$14.00/hour
